Resealing of UK Grant in Hong Kong

Case Study

An individual passed away domiciled in the UK and left assets in HK, and Grant of Probate or Grant of Letters of Administration has been issued by the English Court.

Application can be made to the Probate Registry of the Hong Kong High Court for resealing of the UK Grant so that the executor / administrator appointed under the UK grant can have authority to administer the assets in HK.

Information and documents required:

1. The UK Grant of Probate (for Deceased died leaving a will) or Grant of Letters of Administration (for Deceased died intestate)
2. Whether the Deceased had made any will in HK 
3. The document showing the relationship between the Deceased and the executor/administrator appointed by the UK Court eg Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate
4. Passport and HK ID (if any) of the Deceased and the executor / administrator, and the beneficiaries of the estate  
5. Assets and liabilities of the Deceased in HK as at his date of death
